Degrees and Curriculum
The Department of Epidemiology offers two graduate degrees. Students can earn a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Epidemiology or a Master of Epidemiology.
Doctoral Program in Epidemiology
The PhD program in Epidemiology is administered by School of public health and safety department of Epidemiology. Its objective is to train scientists who are expert in disease control communicable and non-communicable diseases and also infectious diseases, in addition to methodology investigations, disease modelling, data interpretation and analysis.
Doctoral Degree Competencies
At the end of the doctoral program, we expect the students to have achieved the competencies such as: Synthesize the scientific literature and develop new hypotheses, Expert in study designs, Design critical research projects that addresses important public health issues, competent in data-collection and analysis in epidemiologic research
Master of Science Degree in Epidemiology (MS)
MSc in Epidemiology offers training in the methodology, design, conduct and interpretation of epidemiological studies on communicable and non-communicable diseases. It is especially suitable for students who wish to receive skills in epidemiology and to be involved with public health researches.
Master of Science Competencies
At the end of this program, students should be able to: express advanced knowledge in epidemiology and its contribution to other health-related disciplines, understand appropriate designs for epidemiological studies, manage epidemiological data and apply appropriate statistical analyses and interpretation.
