Introduction
Department of Environmental Health Engineering (DEHE) has had a rich history of making important contributions to the understanding and improvement of public health through research and education/training in environmental health for more than 30 years. Our interdisciplinary approach aims to better understand the fate and behavior of a broad range of environmental insults in the nature and engineered systems as well as their adverse consequences on public health and development throughout life.
Department History
Department of Environmental Health Engineering was established in 1991. Since then, the department has trained students in Undergraduate, Master of Sciences, and PhD in environmental health, some of them are currently the honors of the faculty as professors at other universities in Iran and also all over the world. Further, since 2017, the Master of Science in Environmental Health Engineering course has been established with a special focus on Solid Waste Management, which aims to train experts in waste management.
Mission
The department aims to enhance the quality of life of our communities by protecting public health and safeguarding environmental quality through providing outstanding education to students and working professionals who are not only capable of managing legacy environmental problems, rather they should be able to think and find new solutions to the emerging environmental challenges. Further, we aim to promote healthy communities through discovering how the environment affects peoples health and well-being.
Vision
We believe clean air, clean water, safe food, and sustainable communities are fundamental to improving population health. Our department is deeply committed to the prevention of diseases with environmental origins, and we are shaping the future of environmental health research, and training the next generation of leaders in this field.
