Background
Department of Epidemiology of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences was established in 2007 with the approval of the University Council. In February of the same year, the first group of doctoral students in this field began to study in the department. The training of these students was done in the form of an educational program developed for the residency course. In the next course, the programs were changed and continued according to the new PHD training program. Since then, the Epidemiology Department has accepted 2 to 4 PhD students each year. In the masters degree program, the first group of epidemiology students started studying in October 2008, and 4 to 5 new students are recruited each year. The faculty members who participated in the establishment and foundation of the group were Dr. Hamid Soori, Dr. Yadollah Mehrabi, Dr. Ali Naser Moaddeli, Dr. Mohammad Movahedi, Dr. Parvin Yavari, and Dr. Alireza Mousavi Jarrahi.

To train future leaders in the field of epidemiology through outstanding master and doctoral degree programs, and train other health-related professions through undergraduate and graduate levels.

The vision of the Department of Epidemiology is to prepare a better world in terms of community health knowledge and actin by providing research, teaching and practice. we attempt to have a profound influence on population health, clinical outcomes, and health services research to inform policy and interventions.
